Relevant Legal Statutes on Gambling in Idaho*

The minimum legal gambling age in Idaho does not depend upon the gambling activity:

  • Land-Based Casinos: 18
  • Poker Rooms: Not available
  • Bingo: 18
  • Lottery: 18
  • Pari-Mutuel Wagering: 18

The state originally adopted criminal and constitutional prohibitions against Class III gaming except pari-mutuel betting and a state lottery. After challenge from the tribes, ultimately the state amended its constitution to allow these Vegas-style gaming machines.

The maximum bet in Idaho is $50.

There are no non-tribal casinos in Idaho although, until 2014, the state had offered pari-mutuel wagering at horse racetracks.

  3. Coeur D'Alene Casino Resort Hotel in Worley located 34 miles southeast of Spokane near the western border to Washington.
  4. Fort Hall Casino & Hotel in Fort Hall located 40 miles southwest of Idaho Falls.
  5. It'Se-Ye-Ye Casino in Kamiah located 229 miles north of Boise.
  6. Kootenai Casino and Spa in Bonners Ferry located 105 miles northeast of Spokane, Washington near the northern border to the Canadian Province of British Columbia.
  7. Sage Hill Travel Center and Casino in Blackfoot located 31 miles southwest of Idaho Falls.

In the last year, the Shoshone-Bannock Hotel and Event Center has become the Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel. While still an event center, it has re-branded by associating itself with two casinos owned and operated by the same tribe.

These two tribal casinos include Sage Hill Casino in Blackfoot, located nine miles to the north, and Bannock Peak Casino in Pocatello, located 18 miles to the southwest.
